Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, May 17 (Xinhua) Google is introducing a new feature for its Pixel phone that allows users to use the phone as a traffic recorder. This feature was found in an internal test version of Google's personal Security app (Personal Safety), which unexpectedly hit the shelves in the Google App Store (Play Store).

This feature is called "Dashcam", or traffic recorder, and can record video (optional audio or not) while the user is driving. If the phone is placed in the right place in the vehicle, the recorded driving video can provide useful information in the event of an accident or other accident.

Users can start this feature through the "Dashcam" shortcut in the "Be prepared" section of the personal security application home page, and users can manually start recording or viewing recent videos. While Dashcam is recording, the phone can still be used normally, including using Google Maps (Google Maps) for navigation. Or the user can lock the screen to save power and the recording will not be interrupted.

CTOnews.com notes that Google has taken into account the convenience and intelligence of this feature. During setup, users can choose to start recording automatically when connected to a specific Bluetooth device, such as a car stereo or infotainment system, and automatically end recording when disconnected. To save storage space, recorded videos are automatically deleted after three days unless the user saves them manually. In addition, the recorded video itself is compressed, with an average of 30 MB per minute, with a maximum recording time of 24 hours.

This feature appears to be ready for launch, but the exact timing is unknown. It also makes sense to use a smartphone as a driving recorder, because a mobile phone may have a better camera than some cheap special devices.
