CTOnews.com, May 17 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Google announced more Android 14 features during last week's Google I / O 2023 event, which is bringing features such as Ultra HDR to devices running Android 14.

According to SamMobile, the camera moderator of Samsung's official forum revealed that the Ultra HDR function of Android 14 is not only a camera function, but also requires the device to support HDR display. Most smartphone cameras can now capture HDR images, but many devices don't save them in HDR format. Since the Ultra HDR feature requires Android phones to capture images and videos in HDR format and then display them in the same dynamic range on the HDR display, the feature may be limited to higher mid-and high-end phones.

CTOnews.com previously reported that this feature allows the camera to capture a HDR image and save it in 10-bit format, and then the photo album app on the phone can display the image or video in 10-bit format on a HDR-enabled screen.

Only some of Samsung's Galaxy A series phones and the latest Galaxy Note, Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series phones are equipped with screens capable of displaying HDR content, so only these devices can get the Ultra HDR features of Android 14. However, Samsung officials still do not know which phones and tablets will receive the feature, and things will not be clear until Samsung releases an update to the One UI 6.0 Beta later this year.
