The electrified road will be built by the Swedish Transport Authority Trafikverket, and the government is looking for a contractor for the project. Trafikverket has not yet selected its charging technology for this groundbreaking project, but design and construction are expected to be completed in 2025 and then go live soon.

Trafikverket is considering options such as overhead power lines (how streetcars operate), which they have piloted before. According to reports, the road can transfer energy to the electric vehicle through the electric rail, or the power can be transmitted to the vehicle's road embedded induction coil.

According to reports, the electrified highway will be located on the E20 highway between Hallsberg and ö rebro. The highway runs from Stockholm in the north through Gothenburg to Malmo in the south.
