According to news in the morning of May 17, Beijing time, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in an interview with the media on Tuesday local time that the "laptop class" working in Silicon Valley needed to lay down their moral airs.

Musk was talking about the need to go back to the office. The issue has attracted a lot of attention among technology workers in Silicon Valley and across the United States, many of whom have been generously authorized by executives to allow them to work remotely.

"I think the whole concept of working from home is a bit like Marie Antoinette's motto, 'Let them eat cake,'" Musk said. "it's not just a matter of productivity," Musk said. "I think it's morally wrong."

Musk, who calls technology workers "the laptop class living in a dream world," told the media that it is hypocritical to expect service workers to continue to visit in person.

"people should put down their so-called moral airs and stop advocating home work," Musk said.

With productivity slowing significantly and investor expectations rising, many executives at companies such as Amazon and Salesforce have asked employees to start going back to the office.
