Flight records show that Musk's $70 million Gulfstream jet landed in Cabo San Lucas on Saturday, left for Paris the next morning and arrived on Monday morning.

By the time he met Macron, he had replaced his jeans and T-shirt with a refreshing suit, but his hair seemed unshaven and messy. During the 45-minute meeting, Musk was photographed telling Macron that he had to "sleep in the car."

During a meeting with Musk, Macron urged him to invest in France. Musk later told reporters that Tesla would make "major investments" in France in the future, but he did not provide a specific timetable.
