According to reports, if you don't want to buy a new module, the old DisplayPort module can be upgraded to the new one through firmware update, but the HDMI module needs to be upgraded by electric soldering iron. The reason for the higher power consumption of older modules is that they remain active even when no display is connected. To solve this problem, the second generation module is recognized by the system as a USB expansion card instead of a DisplayPort or HDMI connector, which saves more power.

The new DP / HDMI modules will be available in the Framework online store for € 20 each (CTOnews.com note: currently around RMB 151).
