CTOnews.com, May 16, Microsoft recently announced that a number of cloud services, including OneDrive and SharePoint, will scan password-protected Zip files uploaded or shared by users.

Microsoft says cybercriminals have long used archived documents to distribute malware. Microsoft's cloud service previously scanned only compressed documents without a password, while malware communicators can bypass antivirus engine checks by setting passwords.

Security researcher Andrew Brandt (Andrew Brandt) revealed on Monday that Microsoft began scanning SharePoint for Zip compressed files protected by passwords.

He deliberately compressed several malware samples into encrypted Zip files and marked the presence of malware after uploading Microsoft Cloud Services.

CTOnews.com Note: users who do not want Microsoft to scan encrypted files can try different compression formats such as 7-Zip, or use the AES-256 encryption algorithm.
