CTOnews.com, May 16 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft Surface Duo 1Accord 2 remains on the Android 12L version released in September last year, and a former Microsoft developer named Thai Nguyen is optimizing the two dual-screen phones to adapt them to Android 13 and subsequent Android 14.

Thai Nguyen posted a demonstration video on its personal Twitter. After the initial transformation, the original Surface Duo can switch between single-screen and dual-screen modes, just like foldable phones such as Google Pixel Fold, according to different usage patterns. It also supports gesture mode.

The current native Android on Surface Duo phones can't tell when the device is in dual-screen or single-screen mode, so extra work is needed to make the feature work.

The new version of the current demo is based on Android 13, but it can be easily ported and upgraded to Android 14 after completion. CTOnews.com attached the demo video as follows:
