CTOnews.com, May 16 (Xinhua)-- Apple's market capitalization has exceeded the Russell 2000 index for two weeks, the longest on record, according to Bloomberg.

Apple's market capitalization, measured by the value of all its outstanding shares, surpassed the Russell 2000 index on April 27, with a total market capitalization of more than 1.19%.

Apple's market capitalization has been pulling up and the Russell 2000 over the past two weeks as Apple's latest quarterly earnings beat Wall Street analysts' expectations.

Apple, with a market capitalization of about $2.7 trillion, is now worth about $100 billion more than the total value of all 2000 stocks in the Russell 2000 index (CTOnews.com Note: about 696 billion yuan), according to data shared by Bloomberg and MarketWatch.

To be sure, the gap narrowed on Monday, with Apple shares falling 0.4 per cent to $171.80, while the Russell 2000 index rose 1.3 per cent to $1763.

The last time Apple surpassed the Russell 2000 was on September 1, 2020, but only for more than a day.

The Russell 2000 Index compiles the stocks of the 2000 companies with the smallest market capitalization in the Russell 3000 Index. The market capitalization of the Russell 2000 index accounts for only about 10% of the Russell 3000 index, but because it is regarded as an important index that best represents small stocks in the US market, it has attracted much attention from the market and media, and is the most well-known in the Russell index.
