CTOnews.com, May 15 (Xinhua)-- A company called Telly is about to launch a free TV set with two screens, a home screen at the top for watching programs and a secondary screen at the bottom for ads and widgets. The TV was founded by Ilya Pozin, co-founder of Pluto TV, who believes it is a new model that allows users to get a TV for free by watching ads.

CTOnews.com learned officially that the Telly's main screen uses a 55-inch 4K HDR panel, and the secondary screen is a slender bar screen separated by a stereo. The sub-screen can display a variety of widgets, such as sports scores, news quotes, weather, stock prices and so on. The ad may appear on the right side of the sub-screen or in the form of sponsored news sources on the left. Dallas Lawrence, Telly's chief strategy officer, said Telly would also launch a "Telly reward" program to reward users for activities such as voting on the screen and give gift cards to services such as Netflix or Starbucks.

Telly's home and secondary screens are connected through the company's own operating system TellyOS. Unlike most smart TV operating systems, TellyOS currently does not support third-party streaming applications such as Netflix. As a result, Telly comes with a free 4K Android TV bar that users can use to watch any streaming service they want. Telly is also compatible with other streaming devices, such as Roku, Amazon Fire Stick and Apple TV, and has three HDMI inputs, two USB inputs and one tuner for watching wireless broadcasts.

This TV not only has two screens, but also has other functions. There is a camera in the middle of the stereo that can be used to provide a "free advanced motion tracking fitness program" as well as Telly's first Zoom integration. Lawrence said the TV is equipped with a privacy shield (and the TV is turned off when it leaves the factory), and users can turn it on or off as they wish. In addition, Telly has built-in music playback capabilities for 40 games and "pop music services". There is even a "voice assistant based on artificial intelligence" that can be awakened by simply saying "Hey Telly".

Pozin has high hopes for Telly, who has achieved success in the field of free advertising-supported streaming TV service (FAST) by founding Pluto TV. He is likely to apply this experience to the free TV. "Don't be fooled by the free price," Pozin said in a statement. "this is definitely the most advanced TV so far."

Users can now go to the freetelly.com website to order a free device (currently available only in the US), and Telly says it will start shipping "this summer" with an initial shipment of 500000 units.
