On May 12, 2023, the first meeting of the NTN working Group was held in Shanghai.

According to reports, the meeting is sponsored by the NTN working Group of IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group and hosted by China Information Science. The meeting discussed and identified key research projects of the NTN working group, including NTN wireless key technologies, core network key technologies and mobile phone directly connected satellite technologies, and carried out technology pilot projects for space-to-earth integration based on high-orbit and low-orbit satellites and for different scenarios of NR NTN and IoT NTN. Through key technology research and verification, end-to-end business function, performance technology test, verify the feasibility and maturity of NTN technology, guide technology and equipment research and development, promote the formulation of domestic and international standards.
