Compared with private satellite communication technology, MediaTek said that 6G NTN communication technology, defined according to the 3GPP open standard, will be able to take advantage of the economies of scale of the existing global mobile communication industry chain to bring satellite communications from niche markets to mainstream consumers, and to provide users with uninterrupted (Always-Connected) communication services using networking terminal devices or devices commonly used in daily life, such as mobile phones, cars, the Internet of things, etc. MediaTek has studied and proposed four key technologies of 6G NTN, including efficient waveform design, predictable mobility management, large satellite antenna array and beamforming, and spectrum sharing between satellite and terrestrial networks.
