CTOnews.com May 15, Red Hat Red Hat announced the full release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 system on May 10, as the second update of its latest Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 system series, bringing more new features and improvements, as well as the latest security fixes and software package updates.

Six months after the release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.1, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 introduced 64k Page Sizes (page table size) support for the ARM architecture, which enables operating systems to be deployed on more hardware and maximize the performance of large dataset workloads, extending the capabilities of system roles and automating more administrative tasks. And enhanced Podman--, a tool that Red Hat uses to develop, manage, and run containers on the Linux platform.

The new Podman system role is included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 to enable administrators to automatically configure based on specific needs and environments without knowing the command line. In addition, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 has updated several other system roles to automate SQL Server / Active Directory authentication, support for SQL Server 2022, and Always-On availability group support.

For hybrid clouds, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 introduces the functionality of the Red Hat Image Builder tool to include organization-specific security policies in the generated images and to support the creation and sharing of Red Hat enterprise Linux blueprints internally and externally.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux's Web console has also been improved, such as the ability to configure automatically unlock encrypted disks on the root file system using NBDE (CTOnews.com Note: Network Bound Disk Encryption) and allows system administrators to choose common system-wide encryption combination policies.
