At present, Apple's satellite communication function already supports Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the United States. these countries and regions can now make emergency calls and searches by satellite. CTOnews.com warns that emergency calls and searches by satellite require iOS version 16.4 or later.

When the phone does not receive a cellular network or Wi-Fi signal properly, users can use the emergency SOS by satellite to send a text message to the emergency service center for help and share their location with friends and family in the "find" app.

Apple iPhone 14 automatically enables the satellite function when you disconnect from the cellular network and Wi-Fi. Of course, establishing a satellite connection usually requires a clear view of the sky, but iOS also directs users to point their phones in a specific direction of the satellite overhead.

At this stage, the data transmission speed of mobile satellite communication is very slow, so iPhone can only help users to send short messages. If necessary, emergency services can reply and conduct a two-way dialogue.
