Twitter's new CEO Yakarino is her first public speech since it was revealed that Carino was expected to become a Twitter CEO on Thursday. Musk has been Twitter CEO since he bought Twitter for $44 billion last October. On Friday, he announced the appointment of Yakarino as the new CEO.

She called for feedback from users at a time when Ms Yakarino is about to take over Twitter, a platform that has been trying to reverse the collapse in advertising revenue and is beset by challenges and a heavy debt burden. Since Musk bought Twitter, advertisers have fled the platform, fearing that their ads may appear next to inappropriate content. Musk admitted earlier this year that Twitter's advertising revenue has fallen sharply. Previously, the company lost nearly 80 per cent of its employees.

While Mr Musk said Mr Yakarino would help build a "universal app" for Twitter to provide a variety of services, such as peer-to-peer payments, he chose an advertising veteran as CEO, suggesting that digital advertising would continue to be Twitter's core business.

Musk has always said he intends to find a new leader for Twitter. He said last week that letting Yakarino be Twitter's new CEO will help him devote more time to Tesla.
