CTOnews.com, May 13, according to a report released by the Swedish non-governmental organization ChemSec, the use of dangerous compounds was analyzed. The report found that the social cost of using PFAS in the global economy totals about $17.5 trillion a year (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 121.8 trillion yuan), while the profit of the PFAS industry is only $4 billion per year (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 27.84 billion yuan).

Perfluorinated / polyfluoroalkyl compounds (PFAS) are widely used in raincoats, pizza boxes, frozen vegetable packaging and coated pans. More than 15000 chemicals contain this substance, known as the "permanent chemical", and long-term exposure can cause harm to human health.

The chemical is ubiquitous and prolonged exposure can lead to cancer, thyroid disease, kidney dysfunction, birth defects, autoimmune diseases and other serious health problems.

ChemSec reported that 12 companies account for most of the world's PFAS production, including 3M, Chemours, Solvay, Daiki, Honeywell, BASF, Merk and Bayer. Under regulatory pressure and litigation, 3M announced that it would stop producing PFAS this year.
