CTOnews.com, May 13 (Xinhua) U.S. District Judge Jon Tiger (Jon Tigar) rejected two claims against Microsoft, OpenAI and GitHub on Thursday and asked the plaintiff to amend most of the other charges.

Foreign science and technology media theregister interpreted this as giving the above three companies a short respite. Judge Tegal retained the most important part of the case and supported the plaintiffs' follow-up proceedings against the three companies by revising their claims.

The case dates back to November last year, when Matthew Butterick, a programmer and lawyer, worked with Joseph Saveri's legal team to file a class action lawsuit against GitHub Copilot, a proprietary AI tool, against GitHub and its parent company, Microsoft, and OpenAI. These developers believe that Microsoft and OpenAI OpenAI and Microsoft are suspected of violating open source licenses and using their contributed code to train GitHub Copilot and OpenAI's Codex machine learning model.
