CTOnews.com, May 12 (Xinhua)-- the Allen Institute of artificial Intelligence (AI2), AMD and Large Unified Modern Infrastructure are planning a large-scale research open language model (OLMo) in 2024.

Photo Source: pixabayCTOnews.com Note: most of the models used in the current generative AI, including PaLM 2 and GPT-4, are hidden behind the API, so researchers can't see the inside information exactly. So more and more communities are trying to create open source AI models.

Hanna Hajishirzi, senior director of NLP research at AI2, said: "the research and technology community needs to further promote the development of AI by accessing open language models. Through OLMo, we are working to narrow the gap between public and private research capabilities and knowledge by building competitive language models."

AI2 sees OLMo not only as a model, but as an open platform that allows the research community to use all the components created by AI2 and improve them through open source.

Hajishirzi said that all the presentations, training data sets and API produced by AI2 for OLMo will be publicly available.
