CTOnews.com May 12, DLsite operator GEO Holdings announced a ban on uploading and selling illustrations generated by Midjourney, Stable Diffusion and other AI art tools. This is the latest user-generated content platform to introduce such a ban after similar decisions by sites such as PixivFANBOX.

DLsite claimed that the ban was based on concerns about the legality of AI-generated content and the purpose of protecting the creator's environment. The rapid development of generative AI has exceeded the development of countermeasures, guidelines and policies, so we have decided to suspend the sale of AI works. " , adding, "this is also taking into account the impact of continuing to sell AI works in the current state on existing creators."

CTOnews.com learned through DLsite's announcement that the projects to suspend the sale of AI works are comics, CG illustrations, videos and albums generated using AI. Novels, game works and works that are only partially assisted by AI will continue to be sold. DLsite said it would "take further measures in the future based on the development of generative AI technology and community feedback".

On May 10, Pixiv's illustration site pixivFANBOX and Fantia, operated by Tora no Ana, also announced a temporary suspension of sales of AI-generated works, following in the footsteps of other companies.
