CTOnews.com, May 12, according to the latest report released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, smartphone shipments in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region fell 11% year-on-year and 3% month-on-month, the lowest in the first quarter since 2016.

The MEA region is still in economic difficulties, with many problems such as high inflation, devaluation of local currencies and weak consumer confidence. OEM mobile phone manufacturers mainly compete in low-end entry models, and inventory adjustment, channel efficiency and cost reduction are still the main themes in the region.

CTOnews.com summarizes the vendor information for the first quarter of 2023 as follows:

Samsung ranks first with a market share of 27%, and shipments are down 2% from a year earlier.

Audio Tecno ranks second with a market share of 14%, and shipments are down 10% from the same period last year.

Infinix's market share is 9%, ranking third, and shipments are down 6% from a year earlier.

Xiaomi's market share is 9%, ranking fourth, and shipments are down 2% from the same period last year.

Apple ranks fifth with a market share of 7%, and shipments are up 35% from a year earlier.
