CTOnews.com, May 11 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- PixivFANBOX, the operator of Fanbox, a large illustration website, announced a ban on uploading and selling illustrations generated by Midjourney, Stable Diffusion and other AI art tools. The official effective date and the definition of the work generated by AI will be published at a later date.

PixivFANBOX said the ban was motivated by concerns about the legality of AI's generated content and to protect website customers. "FANBOX was created to improve the creative activities of creators, not only to publish their works, but also to form a community by disseminating the creative process and creators' ideas," PixivFANBOX said. "the illustrations created by AI are not the original intention of our service," PixivFANBOX added.

From the date of publication, the company will take measures against accounts that publish works created by AI, such as issuing warnings, restricting visibility, blocking accounts, and so on. Some illustrators believe that Pixiv's decision on the criteria for works generated by AI is not clear, which mistakenly limits the visibility of their works. PixivFANBOX plans to step forward by the end of May to disclose detailed criteria.

CTOnews.com learned that on May 10, Tora no Ana, the operator of Fanbox's rival Fantia, also announced a temporary ban on uploading works generated by AI. Fantia said it would revise its user terms and review its method of identifying works intelligently generated by AI.
