CTOnews.com, May 11 (Xinhua)-- Sharp has announced that it is making LCD screens for the upcoming new game console, which the industry speculates will be used in the next generation of Nintendo consoles, Bloomberg reported.

Sharp CEO Robert Wu said it was working closely with an unnamed company and had been working on LCD panels since the console development phase. Sharp plans to launch a trial production line of LCD panels for the console this fiscal year.

"I can't comment on any details about a particular customer," Robert Wu said.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, Nintendo recently reported results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2023, showing a decline in Switch sales and hinting that no new hardware will be launched until April 2024.

Nintendo expects to sell 15 million Switch consoles in the fiscal year to the end of March 2024, which means sales will fall by another 16.5%. The reign switch will also face market challenges in its seventh year on the market.

Nintendo president Toshitaro Furukawa said Nintendo has no new or upgraded hardware in its annual plan, which means we won't see a new Switch model until the second quarter of next year.
