CTOnews.com, May 11 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- in its latest report, market research firm Counterpoint Research pointed out that European smartphone shipments fell 23% year-on-year to 38 million in the first quarter of 2023. It was the worst quarter since the second quarter of 2012.

Samsung remains in the lead, mainly due to the success of its flagship Galaxy S23 series in the European market. Samsung currently has a 34% share of the European market, down 1 percentage point from the first quarter of 2022, and shipments down 27% from a year earlier.

Apple ranked second, increasing its market share from 25% to 26%, an increase of 1 percentage point, and shipments down 21% from a year earlier.

Xiaomi ranked third, increasing its market share from 14% to 19%, an increase of 5 percentage points, and shipments down 4% from a year earlier.

OPPO and realme True self were fourth and fifth, respectively, with a market share of 4 per cent and 3 per cent respectively, with shipments down 47 per cent and 36 per cent year-on-year.
