CTOnews.com, May 11 / PRNewswire-Asianet /-- in order to make room for the backward rendezvous docking interface for Tianzhou-6, the Tianzhou-5 cargo spacecraft separated from the space station assembly on May 5 and turned into an independent flight phase.

In the follow-up, after the Shenzhou 15 manned spacecraft withdraws from the space station, the independently flying Tianzhou V will return to the space station, because the Tianzhou cargo spacecraft will not only deliver supplies to the space station, but also be responsible for taking away waste from space.

According to reports, at present, China's two cargo ships are in orbit at the same time, which can realize the separate placement of cargo bags and waste from the space station. Among them, the Tianzhou V cargo spacecraft, as a waste storage room, will be controlled to re-enter the atmosphere in June (the Shenzhou 15 astronauts plan to return to the ground in June this year) for ablation and destruction.

According to previous reports from the China manned Space Engineering Office, ▲ Tianzhou V was launched into orbit in November last year, carrying supplies such as consumables, propellants, and applied (test) testing devices for three Shenzhou 15 astronauts in orbit for six months.

21:22 on May 10, 2023, the long March 7 carrier rocket carrying the Tianzhou-6 cargo spacecraft was ignited and launched from the Wenchang Space launch site in China. The Tianzhou-6 cargo spacecraft was successfully separated from the rocket and entered the scheduled orbit. The spacecraft's solar panels started work smoothly and the launch was a complete success.

This launch is the first launch of China's manned space program in 2023, and will first send "food and grass" and "baggage" to the "Shenzhou 16" mission, shouldering the important task of doing a good job in the opening battle of the new phase of China's manned space program.
