CTOnews.com, May 10 (Reuters)-EU antitrust regulators will approve Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard for $69 billion (CTOnews.com Note: about 477.48 billion yuan) next week, with the most likely date being May 15, Reuters reported.

The deal is the largest in the history of the gaming industry and has sparked antitrust scrutiny in many countries. The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) blocked the deal three weeks ago on the grounds that competition in cloud games had been damaged, while the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is seeking to ban the deal.

Other people with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters in March that EU antitrust law enforcement agencies were expected to approve the acquisition after Microsoft reached licensing agreements with cloud streaming competitors including Nvidia, Ukraine's Boosteroid and Japan's Ubitus.

Microsoft has also struck deals with Nintendo and Valve, a US distributor that owns Steam, the world's largest video game distribution platform. If the acquisition is successful, Microsoft will bring games such as Activision Blizzard's call of Duty (Call of Duty) to their game platform.

The European Commission, which has set a deadline for its decision on May 22, declined to comment. Japan approved the acquisition in March.
