CTOnews.com, May 10, according to the latest retail sales statistics of the Automobile Market Research Branch of the China Automobile Circulation Association (CAA), retail sales in the domestic narrow passenger car market reached 1.631 million in April, an increase of 55.6 percent over the same period last year, and 2.5 percent month-on-month growth of 5.896 million vehicles from January to April, down 1.3 percent from the same period last year.

From the point of view of the sales of specific car companies, among the top 10 manufacturers in retail volume, BYD continues to rank first, with sales reaching 194000 vehicles, which still occupies an absolute advantage. This was followed by FAW-Volkswagen, which sold 141012 vehicles in April, up 73.9% from the same period last year, with a market share of 8.6%. Changan Automobile ranked third, with 100637 vehicles sold in April, up 85.7% from the same period last year. SAIC-Volkswagen sold 100023 vehicles in April, ranking fourth, up 91.7% from a year earlier, making it the fastest-growing car company on the list. Geely sold 90700 vehicles in April, up 65.9% from a year earlier, ranking fifth on the list. SAIC GM, Guangzhou Automobile Toyota, FAW Toyota, Guangzhou Automobile Honda and Dongfeng Nissan ranked sixth to 10th respectively.

CTOnews.com noted that BYD Qin and Dolphin ranked first and second on the April car list with 42647 and 29961 cars respectively, up 81.3% and 150.5% respectively from a year earlier. Xuan Yi and Lang Yi two household evergreens won third and fourth with 26975 and 26536 vehicles, while Accord sales of 25590 vehicles won fifth place.
