Statistics show that global shipments of AMOLED smartphone panels in the first quarter of 2023 were about 140 million pieces, down 11.4% from the same period last year and 39.0% from the previous year. Among them, flexible AMOLED smartphone panels accounted for 78.6%, up 14.8% from the same period last year, while the share of rigid AMOLED smartphone panels narrowed to 21.4% from 36.2% in the same period last year.

The contents of the CINNO Research study are as follows:

From the perspective of global AMOLED smartphone panel shipments in the first quarter of 2023, South Korea accounted for 62.2%, while domestic manufacturers accounted for 37.8%. The domestic share increased by 15.2% compared with 22.6% last year, and the share continued to climb.

Samsung showed that shipments of SDC AMOLED smartphone panels were about 07 million pieces, down 32.7% from the same period last year, and its market share narrowed to 53.3% from 70.2% in the same period last year, a decline of nearly 20%. Mainly because domestic flexible AMOLED panel manufacturers continue to seize orders at aggressive prices, Samsung's demand for rigid and flexible panels has suffered a big impact, especially in the Chinese market.

BOE AMOLED smartphone panels shipped about 03 million pieces, a sharp increase of 68.4% over the same period last year, with a market share of 21.3%, up 10.1% over the same period last year, surpassing 20% for the first time, ranking second in the world and first in China, further narrowing the gap with Samsung.

Shipments of LGD AMOLED smartphone panels are about 10 million pieces, an increase of 9.1% over the same period last year, with a market share of 8.9% and a year-on-year increase of 1.7%. Shipments of LGD AMOLED panels are still highly dependent on Apple phone orders.

Tianma AMOLED smartphone panels shipped about 10 million pieces, a sharp increase of 55.0% over the same period last year, with a market share of 5.8%, up 5.0 percentage points, ranking fourth in the world and second in China. Thanks to the continuous growth of main customer orders, the production rate of Wuhan G6 flexible AMOLED production line continues to rise. The shipments of Visionox AMOLED smartphone panels are about 10 million pieces, unchanged from the same period last year, with a market share of 5.0%, up 0.6% from the same period last year. The production line of Vishino Kunshan G5.5 maintains a production rate of more than 80%.

CINNO Research predicts that shipments of AMOLED smartphone panels in the global market may grow by 8.5 per cent to 650m in 2023 compared with the same period last year.
