CTOnews.com, May 10, Microsoft announced in December 2022 that the security and compliance module in Exchange Online PowerShell will deprecate the Remote PowerShell (RPS) protocol. Microsoft today set a date for decommissioning-starting July 15, 2023.

CTOnews.com translates Microsoft's official announcement as follows:

In the process of modernizing workflows, the security and compliance management experience is shifting to REST-based cmdlet.

The new REST API provides exactly the same cmdlet, allowing RPS v1 cmdlet to implement complete functions such as parity without updating existing scripts and processes.

Administrators can immediately switch to REST-based cmdlet, and it is recommended that you follow the instructions as soon as possible.

Microsoft said that REST API does not yet support a subset of the electronic data display cmdlet (a total of 17) and is currently expected to implement it by June 1, 2023. Until then, administrators need to continue to use RPS for these specific cmdlet.
