Beijing, May 10 (Xinhua) according to a study commissioned by Deloitte, Facebook's parent company Meta, metacosmos will contribute as much as $760 billion (5.3 trillion yuan) to the annual GDP of the United States by 2035, accounting for about 2.4 percent.

According to Deloitte, the economic benefits are likely to come from the use of these technologies in defence, healthcare and manufacturing, as well as entertainment use cases such as video games and communications. The concept of meta-universe includes augmented reality and virtual reality technologies that allow users to immerse themselves in virtual worlds or overlay digital information on real-world images.

In 2021, Meta focused on building meta-cosmos and predicted that it would eventually replace mobile devices as the main computing platform. However, investors questioned Meta's huge investment in the meta-universe project. Investors are sceptical about the project's returns at a time when the advertising downturn is weighing on Meta's revenue growth.

Meta said in a separate report that the EU's annual GDP could increase economic opportunities by up to 489 billion euros ($538.3 billion) by 2035, accounting for about 1.3% of its total GDP 2.4%.

Deloitte says Metasmos will contribute C $45.3bn (US $33.88 billion) to C $85.5 billion to Canada's annual GDP by 2035.

Last year, Meta commissioned Analysis Group, a consultancy, to release a global economic impact report. The report estimates that the popularity of meta-universe will contribute $3.01 trillion to the global economy by 2031.
