This function, combined with the existing electrocardiogram (ECG) function, can actively monitor abnormal heart rhythm that may be atrial fibrillation (AFib) and remind users in time.

Cardiovascular disease remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and atrial fibrillation is a common arrhythmia that is considered to be a risk signal for stroke, heart failure and other cardiovascular complications. However, some patients with atrial fibrillation do not have any symptoms and do not know their own risk. As a result, Samsung Galaxy Watch provides tools to help users better understand their heart health through Samsung bioactive sensors, including on-demand ECG recording and arrhythmia alarms, which can detect abnormally high or low heart rates.

After the user activates the feature in the Samsung Health Monitoring app, the feature will check for abnormal heart rhythm in the background through Galaxy Watch's bioactive sensor. If multiple abnormalities are detected in a row, Galaxy Watch will warn users of possible atrial fibrillation and prompt them to use watches for more accurate ECG measurements.

This arrhythmia notification feature will be available as part of the new One UI 5 Watch, first on Galaxy Watch devices released later this year, and then extended to previous Watch 4 series and Watch 5 series devices.
