CTOnews.com, May 7 (Xinhua)-- AMD is helping Microsoft develop its own internal AI chip, code-named Athena (Athena), Bloomberg reported Friday. This is part of Microsoft's multi-pronged strategy to secure the supply of artificial intelligence processor chips.

Hundreds of Microsoft employees are reported to be working on the project, and the company has apparently invested about $2 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 13.82 billion yuan) in its development.

However, Microsoft spokesman Frank Shaw denied the claim. "AMD is a good partner, but they are not involved in the program (Athena)." This is consistent with the industry sources received by analyst Dylan Patel.

At present, Microsoft US shares are quoted at $310.65 per share, with a market capitalization of $2.31 trillion, up about 7.35 per cent in the past month.

AMD currently has a market capitalization of $144.589 billion and a share of $89.84. although it has risen a little these days, it is still a far cry from its 52-week high of $109.57.
