CTOnews.com May 6, Microsoft recently released a new Defender update for Win11, Win10, and Windows Server 2016. After installation, the version number has been raised to 20230503.1.

This update further enhances the functionality of Microsoft Defender to detect the presence of malware in images in Windows Imaging Format (WIM) and Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) formats.

Microsoft says attackers can plant malware into images in both formats, which could lead to risks such as user information theft if users use these images to install.

Windows Server 2016
