CTOnews.com, May 5, Microsoft introduced tabs for file explorer in Windows 11 earlier this year, but the functionality is relatively simple and the performance is not excellent.

According to the information found by whistleblower PhantomOfEarth, Microsoft made hidden improvements to File Explorer in Windows 11 Build 23451 preview to make the tab drag feature easier to use.

As you can see from the video, the File Explorer tab will support dragging split / merge windows, and you can move the window position by dragging the tab, more like the browser tab.

Upgrade Windows 11 system to Dev Preview version 23451

Download Vive Tool from the GitHub repository

Extract the Vive Tool file to a directory

Start the Windows terminal as an administrator and switch to the command prompt

Use the CD command to navigate to the folder of Vive Tool. For example, CD C:\ Vive

Enter the following command and press enter:

Vivetool / enable / id:39661369 restart the computer

If you want to revert the changes, you can use the command:

Vivetool / disable / id:39661369
