China Mobile responded to the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily reporter that China Mobile's 5G ATG program can provide peak download speed of 420 Mbps (52.5 MB/s) and peak uplink speed of 66 Mbps (8.25 MB/s) per aircraft, with a maximum coverage radius of 300km and national route coverage in less than 1000 stations.

China Mobile also said that in this approval, China Mobile will take the lead in jointly with the China Flight Test and Research Institute to carry out broadband transmission verification of domestic large aircraft test data, and realize applications such as rapid unloading of massive data of flight test aircraft and real-time aircraft health management. effectively improve the efficiency of flight test data analysis.

According to the Radio Administration Bureau, based on 5G public mobile communication technology, 5G-ATG establishes a ground-to-air communication link between the ground and the aircraft cabin by setting up special base stations and beamforming antennas along the aircraft route that conform to the corresponding international and domestic regulations, so that passengers can access the Internet through wireless LAN access in the cabin.
