CTOnews.com May 5, Apple CEO Tim Cook said on a conference call in the second quarter of 2023 that the company's sales and revenue exceeded Wall Street expectations for the quarter.

Cook said an important "contributor" to better-than-expected revenue this quarter was the Indian market, where more and more customers moved from Android to iPhone, boosting iPhone sales.

Despite a decline in the global smartphone industry over the same period, iPhone performed exceptionally well in the second quarter of 2023, growing by 2 per cent year-on-year. Cook believes Apple has largely shrugged off the effects of supply chain shortages and production slowdowns.

"it's been a pretty good quarter from an iPhone perspective, especially when you look at market data," Cook told CNBC.
