CTOnews.com, May 4 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Faraday Future announced today the appointment of a new vice president of manufacturing, Rich Schmidt, who will lead FF's manufacturing team and the plant in Hanford, California, overseeing the development, parts and mold management and recruitment related to the production of FF 91.

Rich succeeds Mathias Hofmann,Mathias, senior vice president of global supply chain at FF, who has been head of manufacturing operations for the past eight months. FF will continue to serve as senior vice president of global supply chain.

On April 14, FF announced the completion of the production of its first production car, the FF 91 Futurist electric car, and the launch of the company's FF ieFactory California production line in Hanford, California. Prior to this, FF had just announced the start of production of FF 91.

According to officials, Rich began his career at Toyota Motor in Georgetown, Kentucky, where he worked for 16 years, mainly in manufacturing and engineering. After leaving Toyota, he led the start-up and smooth operation of several major vehicle factories in North America. He has worked in the manufacturing and engineering departments of Nissan, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Tesla. Rich founded his own consulting firm after leaving Tesla, providing consulting services to JD Powers, Kia, Honda, Plastic Omnium, Gibson Guitar and many other valuable partners for many years. In addition, Rich has held manufacturing leadership positions in Lordstown Motors and Canoo.
