CTOnews.com May 4 news, Thailand Investment Promotion Council (BOI) Secretary General Narit Therdsteerasukdi said that Thailand is in talks with Ningde Times and other battery manufacturers, hoping to allow these companies to build local factories to promote the region's ambition to become an electric car production center.

"We are talking to a lot of companies, not only in Ningde era, but also in the battery industry," Narit Therdsteerasukdi said on Wednesday. "this is one of our goals-we want to attract battery manufacturers to set up factories in Thailand."

At present, Ningde era is already the world's leading battery supplier, with a market share of 37%, and it currently has no production facilities in Southeast Asia. As far as CTOnews.com knows, Thailand is already the tenth largest carmaker, producing mainly Japanese models such as Toyota and Isuzu.

At the same time, Thailand is also promoting the production and popularization of electric vehicles through tax cuts and subsidies, in an effort to become a key participant in the global electric vehicle supply chain outside China.

In the past few years, Thailand has attracted local investment from a number of electric car companies, such as China's Great Wall Motor and BYD, but Narit said Thailand hopes to attract electric car suppliers and assembly plants, including local production of key components such as batteries and chargers.

Narit said that the Thai government's goal is to support and subsidize large battery production facilities, and Thailand is giving priority to supporting financial investment in factories that can produce more than 8GWh.

At present, Ningde era has 13 battery production centers, of which 11 are in China, one in Hungary and one in Germany. Ningde Times has contracts with Ford, Honda and BMW, and is also supplying batteries to Volkswagen's ID series of electric vehicles, as well as the Tesla model made in China.
