CTOnews.com, May 4 / PRNewswire-Asianet /-- Raspberry pie Raspberry Pi Foundation today released a new version of the official Raspberry Pi OS distribution for Raspberry Pi computers, bringing updated components, bug Bug fixes, and various performance improvements.

The biggest change in the source PixabayRaspberry Pi OS version 2023-05-03 is that the kernel has changed from the long-supported Linux 5.15LTS to the long-supported Linux LTS, which will bring better performance to the Raspberry Pi computer.

The existing Raspberry Pi OS user executes the rpi-update command in the terminal emulator and will upgrade and run the Linux kernel 6.1 LTS. Linux 6.1LTS is now the default kernel on the new Raspberry Pi OS image.

A variety of applications have been updated in the new version of Raspberry Pi OS, the most important being Chromium 113, the default browser for Raspberry Pi OS, which not only includes all the latest security updates, but also brings WebGPU support by default, which is expected to improve the performance and overall browsing experience of Web applications.

The new Raspberry Pi OS version also includes Raspberry Pi Imager 1.7.4, RealVNC Viewer 7.0.1.48981, RealVNC Server 7.0.1.49073, Mathematica 13.2.1 and Matlab 23.1.0, as well as updated VLC hardware acceleration patches that provide better performance when playing video files.

The libcamera and libcamera-apps components in the new version of Raspberry Pi OS have also been updated to improve IMX296 sensor tuning, audio resampling and coding processing using the libav library, Qt preview window rendering performance, thumbnail rendering, Bayer support for 16-bit in the DNG writer, processing of generalized statistics, and resolution of overflow problems that lead to incorrect calculation of the AGC algorithm.

The new version of Raspberry Pi OS also updates the picamera2 library to receive examples of MJPEG servers using hardware MJPEG encoders, showing examples of two camera previews in a single Qt application, H.264 encoders accept the SPS header frame interval capability, present the correct profile / level, support constant quality parameters, and add new Exif DateTime and DateTimeOriginal tags.

The new Raspberry Pi OS version also addresses some errors, including occasional errors in the CPU temperature plug-in, X11 server crash when changing screen orientation, and X11 server DPMS not working, and adding some new language translations.
