Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--

Remember the old days when Google released Android release details at the beginning of each month? It has been seven months since Google released the updated data in May, and we haven't seen any updates since. It's not hard to understand why Google doesn't want to release these statistics. There are too many different Android phone manufacturers, and the platforms are fragmented. In other words, unlike iOS, the same company doesn't develop software or design phones (except for Pixel phones, which explains why they always get updates first).

So if you look at the latest official release list since May, only 10.4% of Android devices found the latest version of Pie eight months later. Sadly, this figure is 150% higher than the Android Oreo in the same period last year. We haven't received any official information about the percentage of Android devices running the new version since Android 10 was released in early September.

17% of PornHub Android users have been running this version of the operating system for more than four years.

However, an unusual source has released its own release number. Although not as accurate as a survey of the number of Android devices entering Google's Play store in a day, this information may provide us with a lot of information about Android distribution. PornHub recently released its 2019 annual review, which contains some information you might be interested in (we only visit the website of the article). First, most of PornHub's traffic this year (76.6%) comes from mobile phones, which grew by 7% in 2019. Although Android smartphones account for about 85% of the global market, most mobile PornHub users (52.8%) watch streaming content through devices equipped with iOS. 46.6% of people blur the display on an Android phone or tablet. Interestingly, the number of users of iOS and Android is different in a year, up 19% and down 14%, respectively. Overall, some of the differences may be due to iOS's dominant position in the global tablet market.

Last year, only 50% of PornHub visitors installed the latest version of Android on their devices.

Most Android users visiting PornHub this year have used Android 9 Pie (48%), which is expected, as this is the latest official Android version in the past nine months. This was followed by Android 8 Oreo (23%). Android 10 has been running Android Q beta since March, and only 2% of Android devices use PornHub this year. This is 12% less than the number of visitors using phones or tablets running Android 7 nougat (since 2016), only 8% of visitors running Android 6 marshmallows (2015) and only 5% of visitors running Android 5 lollipops (2014). As PornHub points out, 17% of its Android visitors have been using the operating system for more than four years. When you combine Android 9 and Android 10 numbers, it reveals that only half of PornHub visitors installed the latest version of Android on their devices in 2019.

50% of Android visitors to the site use the latest version of the operating system, while 95% of iOS visitors use the latest version.

Compare these numbers with 71% of iOS users who watch PornHub content on mobile devices running iOS 13. This version of the iPhone operating system was released about two weeks after Google abandoned Android 10. Ninety-five percent of iOS users use the latest version of the operating system they built when they visited PornHub last year.

Many people think that Samsung Internet browser is best for Android users (we do use it as the default browser on Pixel 2 XL), but among PornHub users, its usage is growing the most year-on-year. Browsers grew 28% for the year, but second only to Chrome (44.3%) and Safari (41.6%). These two items increased by 8% and 4% respectively in 2019.

Keep in mind that PornHub's data comes from a very narrow user base, although it is better proof that Google still has a lot of work to do when updating.
