Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Xiao Zhan for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, May 3 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Dutch computer chipmaker NXP Semiconductor recently announced that Chinese electric car manufacturer Lai Lai will adopt its 4D imaging radar solution, a technology that goes far beyond traditional radar and can detect objects with distances up to 300m on highways and complex urban scenes, bringing users higher road safety and driving comfort.

4D imaging radar is an extended millimeter wave technology, which provides the ability to accurately measure height, which can effectively supplement the advantages of visual sensors and improve the ability to identify still and hidden targets in key scenes. It can measure not only the distance and speed of the object, but also the direction, angle of arrival and height of the object. These subdivision point clouds can enhance environmental mapping and scene understanding, achieve object detection and classification beyond human vision, and measure the speed of objects in almost all weather and lighting conditions.

NXP said that the 4D imaging radar solution will significantly improve the front radar performance of today's vehicles. As part of NXP's full range of radar products, they provide seamless performance scalability and software and hardware design reusability, supporting L2 + and higher self-driving services. The solution is composed of radar processor and transceiver chipset, which provides efficient advanced radar processing and high-performance RF technology.

Pan Kevin, assistant vice president of supply chain development at Xilai, said: "together with NXP, we will be able to take the next step in improving the driving experience."

CTOnews.com noted that in addition to partnering with NXP, Lvlai Capital last month invested in Sean, a local 4D imaging radar manufacturer, which announced the completion of a series A financing of hundreds of millions of yuan on April 12, led by Lvlai Capital and Xiaomi's investment funds.
