Moreover, the new car appears to use a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO / LFP) battery, similar to the Model 3 standard continued version.

Since August last year, the long-lasting version of Model 3 has been shown on Tesla's official website that it will not be available until 2023. Some changes to the new car suggest that the car may use a lithium iron phosphate battery pack, which is also used in the standard continued versions of Model 3 and Model 3 made in China.

First of all, the car's mileage is now marked as "325 +" miles instead of 358 miles. Second, the car now enjoys only $3750 (currently about 25950 yuan) of the US electric vehicle tax credit, just like the standard extended version. This is due to the inflation reduction Act tax credit, which requires vehicles to be assembled in North America and 40% of key minerals must be purchased from the United States or free-trade countries to be qualified. and 50% of the battery components must be manufactured in North America. These percentages will increase year by year, but they are currently set in this way. Since the standard continued version of Model 3 obtains lithium iron phosphate batteries from Ningde Times, a Chinese battery supplier, and meets only one category, it only gets half the credit. The same is true of the new long-lasting version, so it is suspected that it uses the same battery supplier.

So judging from these two new information, Tesla may have used lithium iron phosphate batteries in the new long-range version of Model 3 in the United States, which are cheaper and have lower energy density, but do not need cobalt, which is a mineral that is difficult to obtain. The battery is also less prone to degradation, meaning it stays healthy for longer, but performs worse in very cold environments.

The new long-lasting version of Model 3 can now be ordered and delivered in June.
