CTOnews.com May 3 news, AMD recently released its quarterly report on April 1, with total revenue of $5.4 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 37.368 billion yuan) and a net loss of $139 million (currently about 962 million yuan). Net income for the quarter fell 118 per cent from a year earlier, while revenue fell 9 per cent.

Dr. Su Zifeng, Chairman and CEO of AMD, said:

The overall performance in the first quarter was very good, achieving better-than-expected revenue and earnings in a mixed demand environment.

We have launched a number of industry-leading products, accelerated our AI roadmap this quarter, and made significant progress in customer engagement.

In the long run, we see significant growth opportunities as we successfully deliver the roadmap, implement our strategic data center and embedded priorities, and accelerate the adoption of our AI portfolio.

The AMD Client division, which serves the PC market, suffered the worst losses this quarter, with an operating loss of $172 million (currently about 1.19 billion yuan) and revenue of $739 million, down 65 per cent from a year earlier. In the same period last year, the customer group generated $2.1 billion in revenue.

The Gaming division, which mainly sells graphics cards, has an operating profit of $314 million (currently about 2.173 billion yuan) and revenue of $1.76 billion, down slightly from $1.86 billion a year ago. AMD's data center group reported flat revenue of $1.29 billion.
