The last update to the series of phones dates back to October 2022, when Microsoft released an Android 12L update without fixing BUG or introducing new features.

After upgrading to Android 12L, the Surface Duo series of phones did not introduce much improvement. The subsequent Android security updates only integrate the security updates officially released by Google, and do not fix the system BUG or improve the stability of the background.

It has entered May, and Microsoft has yet to push the April 2023 security update to Surface Duo phones, the first time Microsoft has broken the update since the launch of the device.

In addition to the system, Microsoft's own Android app has also given up support for Surface Duo. The new version of the SwiftKey input method introduces the Bing AI function, which can run, including Samsung foldable phones, but not for Surface Duo.

CTOnews.com learned from the report that the media specifically consulted Microsoft about the matter and got a reply that "there is nothing to share." The media also asked "whether the Surface Duo series of phones can be upgraded to Android 13" and got the same reply.
