Beijing, May 3 (Xinhua) Vice President Kamala Kamala Harris and his senior government officials will meet with CEO of Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and Anthropic, an artificial intelligence (AI) research company, on Thursday to discuss responsible development of AI, the White House confirmed on Tuesday.

Other senior US government officials will also attend, including Commerce Secretary Genna Raimundo, Chief of staff Jeff Zients, National Security adviser Jack Jake Sullivan and Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy Arati Prabhakar.

According to an invitation from the White House to the CEO, US officials plan to have a "frank discussion" with the CEO about AI, especially about the risks posed by the "current and near-term" development of the technology. "the president of the United States expects companies like you to make sure they are safe before making products available to the public." The rapid development of AI technology has raised concerns about privacy violations, biases and fears that it may spread fraudulent and false information.

The US president said in April that it remains to be seen whether AI is dangerous, but he stressed that technology companies have a responsibility to ensure the safety of their products. He says social media has shown that powerful technology can be harmful without proper safeguards. As concerns grow about the impact of AI on national security and education, the US government is also consulting the public on the proposed accountability measures for the AI system.

"I think we should be cautious about AI and the government should supervise it properly because it poses a danger to the public," Tesla CEO Elon Musk (Elon Musk) said in a television interview last month.

The representative of Anthropic confirmed that the company would attend the meeting. Google and OpenAI have not commented. Microsoft declined to comment.
