Apple says location-tracking devices can help users find personal items such as keys, wallets and luggage through a crowdsourcing search network. However, they can also be abused in unwanted personal tracking.

This pioneering specification of its kind will allow Bluetooth position tracking devices to be compatible with tracking detection and alarms across iOS and Android platforms. Major tracker brands such as Samsung, Tile, Chipolo, eufy Security and Pebblebee have expressed support for the draft specification.
