Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com May 2 news, a former AI engineer at Google recently revealed that the company had developed an artificial intelligence dialogue system capable of autonomous thinking, but later deleted it because of concerns about its security. He also said Google currently has more advanced artificial intelligence technology that is not public.
Blake Lemoine, a former member of Google's AI team, was fired by Google for claiming AI chatbots were self-aware, CTOnews.com noted. In an interview with Futurism magazine, he said he believes Google is acting "in a way they think is safe and responsible" in the field of artificial intelligence and is not being swayed by organizations like OpenAI. OpenAI released an artificial intelligence dialogue system called ChatGPT at the end of 2022, which became popular all over the world in a short time.
Lemont also revealed that Google actually started working on a chat system similar to ChatGPT as early as mid-2021, saying: "It wasn't called Bard at the time, but they were studying it and trying to figure out if it was safe to publish." They were going to release it in the fall of 2022, so it would have been released before or at the same time as ChatGPT. But partly because of some security concerns I raised, they removed it. "
Lemont, who joined Google in 2015, also told Futurism that Google currently has "more advanced technology" that is not publicly available. He said there was a product two years ago that basically had Bard functionality, but Google has been "making sure it doesn't make up facts too often, doesn't have racial or gender bias, or political bias or anything like that. "
Lemont told The Washington Post last June that he believed Google's language model conversation app (LaMDA) gained self-awareness after chatting with him. He also shared an "interview" he conducted with LaMDA on Medium, claiming it was proof of his independent thinking. He was fired by Google that month after Google said he violated the company's confidentiality policy. A Google representative said at the time that his claim of self-awareness was unfounded and that there was no evidence that LaMDA was conscious.
