CTOnews.com May 2, Microsoft today released the May 2023 Windows Autopatch update, which Microsoft says is its most "influential" update because it brings many improvements and changes related to operating system quality, feature and security updates, policy alerts, and so on.

Microsoft also said that the impact of Autopatch is also reflected in resource management, because it has saved a lot of time, money and effort since the adoption of automatic updates in the cloud.

Microsoft cited a paid study called the expected Total Economic impact of Windows Autopatch, which said that companies could save about 50 to 95 per cent of their work through Windows Autopatch. The report's key findings also show that Microsoft saved more than $1 million in this way, including $848000 in efficiency gains and nearly $500000 in on-site infrastructure costs. There are also some unquantifiable benefits, which are broken down as follows:

Quantified expected benefits: $848000 in efficiency gains for the patching team.

The IT team has been 80% more efficient in reporting patched compliance.

The success rate of patching increased by 13 percentage points, reduced interference to end users, and reduced the number of requests submitted by users when they sought help from IT or technical support when they encountered problems.

Nearly $470000 was saved by reducing the use of previous solutions and on-site infrastructure.

Unquantifiable benefits: improved security.

Windows Autopatch was first released in April 2022 to help IT administrators manage the release of Windows 10 and Windows 11 updates across the enterprise, including feature updates, drivers, firmware, and Microsoft 365 applications. The service will be able to detect which updates need to be performed by using a series of "test rings" and will be able to check the settings through Microsoft Endpoint Manager so that the administrator can simply start and run according to the instructions.
