Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, May 2 (Xinhua)-- Reliance Jio has launched a smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) device, the JioDrive, in India, similar to the Google Cardboard a few years ago and several smartphone-based VR products. Officials say JioDrive can enhance the ongoing TATA IPL 2023 viewing experience on JioCinema apps.

This year, TATA IPL (Indian Cricket Super League) is streaming on the JioCinema app, and users can watch the game from different angles, including aerial view, fixed / motion camera view, etc., and the OTT platform also offers 4K resolution. Reliance officially announced that the JioDrive VR device will provide users with a stadium-like experience at home; if the VR is paired with a compatible device, viewers will have the experience of watching the IPL on a 100inch virtual screen.

JioDrive VR devices are compatible with smartphones with display sizes between 4.7in and 6.7in. These devices must also be equipped with gyroscopes and accelerometers and run Android 9 and iOS 15 or later software. Reliance has also launched a JioImmerse app for other VR experiences (such as games, entertainment, learning), which users need to have a 4G, 5G or JioFiber connection to access.

The JioDrive VR device is equipped with a breathable surface pad to extend service life and provide a comfortable experience, as well as three-way adjustable shoulder straps; the device has buttons in the lower right corner to support navigation and interaction in the VR, and the adjustment wheel can fine-tune the lens and adjust the focus for a clearer image.

The JioDrive VR device costs 1299 Indian rupees (CTOnews.com Note: currently about RMB110), supports black, and offers a 3-month warranty.
