CTOnews.com May 1 News: virtual desktops (Task View) is a productivity tool introduced by Microsoft in Windows 10 that allows users to assign different windows to multiple virtual desktops. However, this feature has hardly changed significantly for nine years, and Windows 11 has even removed the transition animation when switching between desktops.

According to the latest test content found by overseas netizens PhantomOfEarth, Microsoft is improving virtual desktops for Windows 11. In preview versions of Build 23440 and Build 25346, virtual desktops switch animation returns, with a simple indicator added.

As can be seen from the figure, the virtual desktop switching animation of Windows 11 is still relatively stiff and needs further improvement. After switching between virtual desktops, an indicator appears above the taskbar to tell the user which virtual desktop they are currently in.

Upgrade Windows 11 system to Canary Preview version 25346 or Dev Preview version 23440

Download Vive Tool from the GitHub repository

Extract the Vive Tool file to a directory

Start the Windows terminal as an administrator and switch to the command prompt

Use the CD command to navigate to the folder of Vive Tool. For example, CD C:\ Vive

Enter the following command and press enter:

Vivetool / enable / id:42354458,34508225,40459297 restart the computer

If you want to revert the changes, you can use the command:

Vivetool / disable / id:42354458,34508225,40459297
