CTOnews.com, April 29 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- A lawsuit between game developers Bungie and Mihai Claudiu-Florentin was recently sentenced and a judge ordered the latter to pay $12 million to Bungie.

Mihai Claudiu-Florentin is a Romanian who sells a "Destiny 2" game cheater called VeteranCheats.

Bungie sued him in 2021, claiming that his cheating software gave players an unfair advantage in the game and demanded $12 million in damages (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 83.16 million yuan).

VeteranCheats damaged Destiny 2's income and reputation and infringed its intellectual property rights, according to court documents.

Bungie claims that the use of VeteranCheats undermines the fun of honest players with its unfair hacking and does considerable damage to the reputation of developers.

Bungie said in the lawsuit that this directly increased the cost of Bungie's game security, spending at least $200000 (CTOnews.com Note: current about 1.386 million yuan) in staff and software costs to combat the harm of cheaters.
